Barcelona Continued

I left the Barcelona post unfinished. Here is an update on the rest of the trip.

Barcelona is one of the best party cities in the world so after our tour on Friday we went out to some bars and a club called Opium.  <- (Link to the site). The club is absolutely huge and right on the beach. We had a great night.

Started the night at a bar called Chupitos. They have 300+ different shots. These happen to be on fire.
Cool shot of another bar.
Gettin weird at Opium.
Opium has a cool lounge area outside with big couches. Right on the beach.
VIP ballin.

On Saturday we woke up late and walked around the city. That night we went to an FC Barcelona game vs. Sevilla. The game was one of the best parts of the trip. We got to see David Villa, and the best player in the world, Messi, score goals.

Cool fountain.
Indoor market.
Las Ramblas walking street. Has  a ton of street vendors.
NOM NOM NOM
Grubbing some fresh shrimps.

Panorama of the harbor. This was one of best parts of the Barca leven in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater!

Arc de Triomf
Cool fountain. I forgot the name.
Chillin with a woolly mammoth.

Beautiful beach. Too bad it was less than 40 degrees fahrenheit!

Heyo

This is the top of Sam's residence. Yes, he has a rooftop pool.

All you can eat sushi for dinner. The food was amazing but we ate way too much.

Game at Camp Nou!
Messi just after he scored.
Sunday was my last real day in Barca. I felt terrible Sunday morning and was getting sick. I think it was something I ate. That day we chilled and went to Park Guell, a park designed by Gaudi. We hiked to the top of the hill there and had an amazing view of the city. Later in the day we went to see La Sagrada Familia. The church is enormous and pictures really don't do justice to how big it is. The next day I got up around 9am and went to the airport to head home to Copehagen.

I had an amazing trip and it was fun to see my friends in Barcelona. The weather wasn't the best for us but we made the best of it. I caught some kind of virus after the trip and was in bed for a week after the trip!

Me, Brody, and Sam at Park Guell.

Awesome view of the city and the water.

Not lookin so good.

La Sagrada Familia

A poster on outside a tourist shop. We did everything on the poster.
It really shows how much we accomplished in the weekend.

Barcelona Adventure

I went to Barcelona, Spain to visit my friend Sam who is studying abroad there. I went with my friends John and Brody from Holger. Our flight out of Copenhagen was at 5:00pm on Thursday, February 21st. We didn't arrive in Barcelona until about 11:00pm. I had to take the bus from the airport and meet Sam at a metro station. Sounds simple right? I figured out which bus to take from the airport, but I read the map wrong, got off on the wrong stop and had to walk a good distance back to where I was supposed to meet Sam. The only problem that Sam decided that a giant plaza with four different metro stops all named the same thing was a good place to meet someone.... but after walking around the plaza for a while we were able to find each other. From there we took the metro back to Sam's residencia where I would be crashing.

Beautiful sunset over Denmark.
Flying KLM is awesome. They Red Bull sized Heineken's were great.

Great meeting place Sam.... Think you can find one person in this giant plaza??
Sam's residencia... More like lockdown jail... we had so many problems.

Thursday night we went out to a cool bar where they let you pour your own drinks. I don't understand how this concept makes any money but I like it. We then went to a pretty cool club called Sutton. There were some elevated surfaces at Sutton which I obviously took the opportunity to dance on.... I don't think the locals liked this very much as we were kindly asked to leave the club after that.

We started around noon on Friday with brunch at a nice tapas place. I really like the concept of tapas. You pick different mini dishes so you can sample a bunch of different foods, then you just pay for how many sticks you have from the tapas.

Some tapas.
The tapas restaurant.

After eating, we walked around for a bit and then made out way to Camp Nou where FC Barcelona plays. We toured the stadium with the Camp Nou Experience for about 22.00 Euro - probably the best money I spent on the trip. The Camp Nou tour and museum was amazing. The club has so much history and such an strong connection to Catalonia and Barcelona. Everything in the tour makes you feel the tradition and power that is FC Barcelona. It really is more than a club.

I'll continue this post in a bit.
